Chernivets'ka oblast' is located in the west of Ukraine in foothills of Carpathians, near the Dnister and Prut rivers. Bykovyna northern part, that makes territory of modern oblast', in Х-XII centuries entered into Kyivs'ka Rus', in ХII-XIII centuries to the Halyts'ko-Volyns'ke principality. It was found ceramic sign with the image of a falcon in slavic stylistics. It is most ancient heraldry land's symbol. It crowns the oblast' emblem.
