KELMENTSI
It was found in 1559 by usurer Kel'man. This territory was a part of the Kyiv Rus', in XII-XIII centuries was part of the Halyc'ka Rus', later it belonged to Besarabia. In 1892 there was built the railway, in 1898 - school. In beginning of XIX century Kel'mentsi become the volost center of Hotyn district. In 1960 was given the status of city.
