VOLOCHYS'K

For the first time it is mentioned in 1493 as the property of Zbaraz'ky princes. The name occurs from a word "to drag" ("volochyty") - here there was a ferry through Zbruch river. It was necessary to forward cargoes. The first name is Volochysche.
In 1775 it received the privilege on carrying out of fairs. On the city stamp of 1793 was represented the patroness of a city of St.Agate on the cloud, in the right hand she holds a palm branch, in the left - a bowl with fire.
