It was confirmed in July, 22nd, 1997 by the decision of city council session. Vert; falcon Argent with open wings, under it Mercury's staff, on the sides rhombus Argent with edge turned to the end of a staff; under it forny cross Or. The rhombuses symbolize salt-works. Cross represents the Cossacks, who protected the salt-workers and based the settlement which later became the city. The Mercury's staff represents the trade specifity of city and its belonging to Slobozhanshchyna (Kharkivshchyna). A vert colour (the colour of the nature) emphasizes the function of city as the resort. The falcon symbolizes a song "Dyvlus' ya na nebo", the author of this song - Michaylo Mykolayovich Petrenko - is the native of the city.
