It was found near small river Hnyla in the end of XI century by prince Hrymalei. The next written mention refers to 1600 in the description of fortress. In the beginning of XVIII century it was property of crown het'man Adam Senyavs'kyi. In 1720 he has given to settlement the right of self-management, the status of city and own arms in which were the signs of city owners "Leliva" and main figure of Rys' province arms: "azure, or lion who holds in forepaws or half moon and a six-coal star". In days of Austrian domination Hrymailiv was small town of Skalat district. According to F.Kovalyshyn's statement, the city used the arms of the sample 1720. Клименко О., Хаварівський Б.
