The village has ancient history. In "Statistical descriptions of Volyn' churches" of N.Z.Teodorovych Verbovets' (Willow) is mentioned in July, 9th, 1463 as the property of prince Soltan. The village has been presented to him by the Lithuanian prince Svydryhailo for true service. However it is much more ancient.
The name of village has occured from a word "to hire" - "verbyvaty" - of the new settlers. But there is also other version - the first settlers lived in a valley, near small river with willows (verby).
Volyn' was in authority of Lithuania, Poland, Russia and had no opportunity for national development. In second half of XVI century all lands around belonged to princes Vyshnevec'kyi. As archival sources, in 1629 settlement already was considered as city. There were 58 court yard. The Verbovets' region included 9 settlements into 380 court yard. Later these grounds belonged to landowners Ohots'ka and Rzhevys'kyi. Вербовець: іст.мемуар.нарис ХХ ст / Є.Новосад . - Т.: Підручники і посібники, 2005. - 240 c. - (Моє село).
