It was confirmed in September, 20th, 2000 by the decision of region council session.
Rectangular panel with sides ratio 2:3 is divided on two equal horizontal stripes - green and purple, on the intersection is narrow blue stripe with yellow Greek ornament - meander, bordered by yellow. Green means wealth and nature of the region. Purple means dignity and strength. Blue stripe means Kal'mius river that flows through region. Meandr means first Greek founders of settlements in this region.
