DZVENYHOROD
In Nesteriv annals the settlement refers to Zvenyhorod. After an attack of Tatars in 1240 it has dropped out of a field of vision for a long time. Obviously, it have restored by Podillya princes Koriatovychis. They have constructed the new fortress which has existed up to middle of ХVI century.
During many centuries the settlement was in possession of several families.
Eyewitness Sarnyts'kyi wrote in 1570: "above the river Dzvan is devastated castle Dzvan, once the property of princes Ostroz'kyis" ("castellum desertum Dswan ducis Ostrowiensis habitaculum").
According to A.Shnaider's assumptions, the first arms of this settlement was "Pohon'" (Pursuit) - the emblem of Lithuanian princes Troidenovychis and their descendants Ostroz'kyis.
In 1716 the crown het'man Adam Senyavs'kyi has ordered to rebuilt the fortress. During carrying out of repair work people have found a plenty of human bones, and 1000 carts were required to take it out. Between bones was a marble coffin of large length. In it was the person which head was so big as a circle of a hat.
