VYSHHOROD

The first mentions refer to 946. Since the X century it was a residence of princes of Kyiv. The special significance in history the city got after the killing of the brothers Borys (in 1015) and Hlib (in 1021) by Svyatopolk. They became the first saints of Kyiv Rus'. In 1076 and in 1115 in Vyshhorod was built a temple-museum with a sarcophagus of the saints.
