BUS'KYI REGION

OLES'KO

One of the most ancient cities of Lviv region which existed during the Halyts'ko-Volyns'ka state. For the first time it is mentioned in 1366 as city and the castle. In 1370-77 and 1382-1431 here there was a troop of Rus'-Lithuanian princes Lubart and Svydryhailo
The Magdeburg Right was given in 1441.
Since 1605 city became the property of the big magnate Ivan Danylovych. He has reconstructed the castle, made it completely stone, strengthened it by gross, equipped with guns. In the castle were born future kings Yan ІІІ and Mykhailo Vyshnevets'kyi.
