It was confirmed in December, 30th, 2004 by the decision #357 of XXII region council session. The shield is tierced in pairle reversed. Azure, vert, sable. Two-headed eagle or with tongues and claws gules, under crown or, with escutcheon gules, on it are six mounds argent in three lines - three, two, one. Supporters: lion or with a flag of Ukraine, bear or with flag of Drohobych region. The shield is crowned by region crown or, under the shield is ribbon azure with an inscription or "Drohobyts'kyi region".
Two-headed eagle in the azure field was the territory emblem of Peremys'ka land during the XV-XVIII centuries, which includes a Drogobychchyna. This symbol was used in the Halyts'ko-Volyns'ke principality. According to the chronicles, king Danylo put arms with an eagle on the defensive tower of his castle.
