For the first time the was mentioned since 1518 as Pershkova. Prince Kostyantyn Ostroz'kyi at 1594 exposes privileges for city which renames to Olehandria, appoints head and allows to choose three judges. The city was named in honour of Olexander - the son of prince Kostyntyn.
