PETRYKIVS'KYI REGION

The modern emblem

It was confirmed in August, 7th, 2013 by the decision #166-17/V of region council session.

Per bend sinister. First Azure; mace Or and saber Argent edge down in saltire. Second Vert; bird Phoenix Or.
Crossed mace and sword reflect the historical past of this land. It is personified by the figure of the last Zaporizhzhya Sich Cossack Ataman Kalnyshevs'kyi, who organized there management of Protovchans'ka Palanca of Zaporiz'ka Sich and founded the church.
Fantastic bird Phoenix presents in iconographic style of Petrykivka paintings, unique manifestation of Ukrainian folk art, known far beyond Ukraine. Phoenix is symbol of the revival. Vert represents the picturesque forests, azure means the waters of the Dnieper and Oril', or - farming field.
