BATURYN

It was founded in in the beginning of XVІІ century (1625). City has played a considerable role in the history of Ukraine. In 1669-1708 and 1750-1764 it was residence Left-bank Ukraine het'mans - D.Mnohohrishnyi, Ivan Samoilovych, Ivan Mazepa, Pylyp Orlyk, Kyrylo Rozumovs'kyi.
In November, 2nd, 1708 the Moscow army has grasped Baturin, destroyed the defensive fortress and a city. In the battle perished 6-7,5 thousand peace citizens and 5-6,5 cossacks.
