It was confirmed in April, 10th, 2003 by the decision N01/06-03 of city council session. Azure; or amber drop from which on a circle are three argent lightnings and twelve or beams depart. The shield enframed by or cartouche and crowned by argent urban crown with three prongs. The author is Z.Fedunkiv.
The drop of amber is symbol of city name ("byrshtyn" means amber). Lightnings and beams mean the basic industrial area of city - power. Azure color means reservoir of Burshtyn thermal power station.
