It was confirmed in August, 8th, 2000 by the decision of XXIII city council session of XXIII convocation. Azure; gules pall with argent border. In the centre runs argent wing-horse with or mane and tail. Under it on the sides are two eight-beam stars or. The shield ia enframed by or cartouche and crowned by argent urban crown with three prongs.
Pegasus means movement forvard, because city has appeared by the railway. Three lines symbolize station with three directions to Kyiv, L'viv, Odesa. Two stars mean two villages - Velyka and Mala (Large and Little) Zhmerynka. The station was constructed between them. Azure and gules correspond to oblast' emblem.
