PIDVOLOCHYS'K
It was found on a trading way on both banks of the Zbruch river, and formed two settlements with identical name Volochysche. The first written mention of one of them, right-bank, refers in the certificate from July, 9th, 1463, when it has got to prince V.Zbaraz'kyi. From the middle of ХVIII century it was named Pidvolochys'k, and left-bank settlement - Volochys'k. Until 1772 these cities developed as two parts of one settlement.
On a stamp of 1793 was used the image of Sacred Agate.
In 1869-1871 there was constructed the railway to L'viv. Obviously then has been approved the city arms: "azure, allegorical figure - a symbol of trade". As such figure of trade was represented Hermes image - the young man with a staff in a hand, in a winged helmet and winged sandals. Клименко О., Хаварівський Б.
