The flag
It was confirmed in August, 12th, 2003 by the decision of region council session.
Rectangular panel with sides ratio 2:3 consists of three vertical strips - red, green and white in the ratio 1:1:8; in the centre of a white field is the red fortress with green ground shaft and the open gate; on the parties of bottom tower behind walls are two low red towers; under a gate are crossed white bunchuk atop to bottom and curve east sword (the height of an emblem equals to 1/2 heights of a panel); in the top corners of a white field are one red eight-beam star in height of 1/10 lengths of a flag (the distance of each star from lateral and top edges of a white field equals to 1/10 lengths of a flag).
The red strip symbolizes heroism of our ancestors, green means the rich nature, white means the centuries, old historical roots of people.
