The idea of creation of the coat of arms has appeagules in 1983 after celebration of 30 year anniversary of city. In 1984 was created the workgroup for creation of the coat of arms.
Azure; chief Gules, base Vert. industrial building and waste bank Argent with headframe Sable, above it star Gules with rays Or. On base grain wheat Or. On chief inscription "Dobropillya" Or.
- Main industry in city is coal (waste bank and headframe, on which is date of appropriation of the status of city).
- The city simultaneously is centre of agricultural region.
The chief is pierced by bright rays, which symbolize labour successes of the miners.
The bottom of the coat of arms represents the character of our perfect land framed by or ears wheat.
