SVITLOVODS'KYI REGION

The modern emblem

It was confirmed in August, 4th, 2001 by the decision of region council session.

Azure; St.Yuri argent with a cross gules on the board on a horse beats the snake argent by spear, at the sinister is pale. The shield is crowned by the stylized composition, in which incorporated beams of the sun and argent waves on the dark blue background, decorated on each side by the decorative branches. The board on each side is decorated by oak leaves, twined by the dark-blue tape with the or motto "THE NATIVE LAND IR THE BEST".
The basic figure is borrowed from the historical arms of the city of Novogeorgiivs'k, instead of which was built new city Svitlovods'k. St.Yuri is the patron of Christian troops and farmers, a symbol of struggle of goods and evil. Argent pale symbolizes Dnipro river.
