The soviet emblem
It was confirmed in December, 19th, 1986 by the decision of IX city council session of XIX convocation.
Gules with chief azure done in the Carpathian form; key or. In the top part of a key is Carpathian ornamental pattern. In the middle of it is the tower as the symbol of the historical past. Under the tower in the rectangular form is date "1662" - year of the city foundation. In the bottom part of the key are gear and punched tape as symbols of scientific and technical progress, and also 2 wavy belts or, which display two Bystytsia rivers. The key symbolizes the geographical, economic, administrative and cultural centre of the region. Ornamental pattern personifies original national creativity of territory.
